Motivation

What is motivation? Is it an idea? Or an opening for something big? Well here is the real definition for it, motivation is a process for everything. When you want to go to work, playing games, doing chores, or even eating or sleeping. It’s a process that we have an opening to reach our goal by doing what we like or we loved.

For early theories there are several theory from Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory that is:

1. Physiological needs: for physical requirement.

2. Safety needs: for security of each persons.

3. Social needs: persons need for attention.

4. Esteem needs: Internal factors needs.

5. Self-actualization needs: Individuals dream.

Douglas McGregor have another theory about motivation that is theory x and theory y

-) Theory x is more to a negative respond from employees about what their doing but, the Theory y is a positive respond from an employees about their doing.

Frederick Herzberg have two-factors theory about motivation.

-) Hygiene factor: is to eliminate job that we don’t like but didn’t give any motivate.

-) Motivators: give more satisfaction to our job and gives motivation.

David McClelland and his associates proposed a the Three-needs theory:

-) Need for achievement: Drive to success.

-) Need of power: to lead others.

-) Need of affiliation: relationship between comrade.

There is few other motivator theory but it’s just for a contemporary that is:

1. Goal-setting Theory: Reaching a specific goals and increasing it’s performances.

2. Reinforcement theory: Acknowledge an consequences of a behavior.

3. Designing motivating jobs: it’s to lightening and combining task to a complete task.

In designing jobs there are few things to look at:

· Job design: result of the way jobs combined.

· Job scope: how many different jobs that required.

· Job enlargement: the expansion on job scope that increase(horizontally).

· Job enrichment: expansion on adding more plans and evaluating.

· Job depth: the degree of controlling employees have over their work.

For getting a job there is a way that provide an effective framework for managers to design motivating that is Job Characteristics Model:

1. Skill variety: skills that employees had in their skill set that unique and different

2. Task identity: acceptance from employee with their jobs

3. Task significance: the affect on the employees live about their work

4. Autonomy: managing on their work and empty days

5. Feedback: a supportive way to give a direction or give any compliments about their performance

There are issues in motivation especially in people for reaching their goals. There are several reasons that people or person is lack of motivation:

1. Easily give up

2. Changing their hopes and dreams

3. Got hit rock bottom

4. Got stolen from someone

5. Lack of ideas

Maybe there are more than just those reasons that people lack of motivation. For my opinion if I want to motivate my coworkers or even partner business, first I have to get know better for my co-workers, employees, and partner business. Create a communication between my co workers and employees (if I have) in my organization in my start up business. And hear what their opinion on getting any team business work with others. Gather more information and getting more openings in my business. It’s very important for giving motivation to each other even in family because we can get any negative emotions like, depression, anxiety, lonely, even lunatic. Especially in a special event like a pandemic like this we have to motivate each other to get an idea to bring satisfaction, joy, and to move on in life. Another example: motivate friends to make or create an idea that will improve in daily things that we do.
